Foundation Homes
Learn MoreFirst Foundation Home
2012 was a milestone year for the Monterey Foundation with the purchase of the Foundation’s first outreach home. The goal of the home is to be able to provide temporary housing to families who may find themselves without adequate housing, or the financial means meet their own need. Since that time the Monterey Foundation has come alongside several different families who have been able to call it “home” for a period of time during their transition to more permanent housing. This ‘Second Chance’ housing is an intentional effort to help move families from being at-risk for poverty or homelessness into a better condition.
Second Foundation Home
During the last part of 2017, the Foundation was able to acquire a second home to be able to expand and extend this blessing of housing to others. That property underwent renovations and upgrades to make it suitable for this purpose, and then has been used to house families in-need, to enable them to grow into a better situation. This is an ongoing effort and focus for the Monterey Foundation, seeking to transition families who find themselves in difficult times to a better place, with more stability, and a better financial footing.
Rachel's Story
This is a video about Rachel S. and her family. Her story began at Family Promise, one of our collaborating partners. But it continues at the Monterey Foundation in one of our residential properties. She and her four children have found a home there, and are working to improve their outlook and future. This video by a local news crew was shot at their new home supplied by The Monterey Foundation.
The Monterey Foundation was a bright light of burning grace to us. They have given us a Christ-like example to follow, one we will not waste. To us, they were Jesus – meeting us right where we were and taking us in with open arms. Thank you Monterey Foundation for living out Christ in a broken world. Blessings and peace to you all!
