Board Members

Butch Davis is a founding director of the Monterey Foundation, serving since 2008, and currently serves as an elder for the Monterey Church of Christ. Professionally, Butch spent over 35 years as a practicing consulting civil engineer with Parkhill, Smith & Cooper. He is retired but serving on numerous Boards and Committees. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Jody, and the two of them have been blessed with four children and 11 grandchildren. Butch enjoys spending time with his family, working around the house and keeping his 1966 Ford Mustang looking good and running well.

Patty and her husband, Jeff, have been married for 27 years, and have 4 grown children and 6 grandchildren. Mrs. Fairchild has worked as the assistant Tax Assessor-Collector in Oldham County, as well as, working in banking enterprise software sales for many years. Patty currently volunteers with CPS baby watch and St Benedict’s Chapel. The Fairchilds moved from Amarillo in 2014 and have been members at Monterey Church of Christ since early 2015. Patty has been active with the Monterey Foundation for 5 years, and joined the board as a Director in 2019.

Ryan Hannsz is a 2009 graduate of LCU and has worked in several industries, including the biomedical field. He is currently the Escrow Officer at Hub City Title and handles both residential and commercial clients. He is active at Monterey Church of Christ, serving as an adult Class Leader. He was married to Shelbi in 2012, and they have two children. Ryan joined the Monterey Foundation Board in 2023.

Barry Stephens has served as the senior minister for the Monterey Church of Christ for 20 years, and has been a part of the board for the Monterey Foundation from its beginning in 2008. He has a heart for all three of the areas of focus for the Foundation – worldwide missions, community ministries, and education. His participation in mission trips to Africa, and other parts of the world, helps him bring a unique perspective to opportunities that exist for the Foundation to be involved in work throughout the world. Barry is also able to identify how the Foundation may best serve the local community through his work at Monterey Church of Christ.

Dennis and Denise have been married 40 years. They have four grandchildren and currently have three foster grandchildren. He is president of N-Com Engineering which provides communications engineering and consulting to service providers across the country. He serves as an elder for the South Plains Church of Christ and enjoys participating in other local charitable organizations. He has participated in mission trips to Africa, Europe and other parts of the world as have all their children (Aaron and Deanna Dawson, and Daniel and Laken Wisdom). Dennis joined the Monterey Foundation board in 2016.

Debra Rogers is one of the newest directors, joining the Monterey Foundation Board in 2022. Debra is an educator who dedicated over 30 years to helping at risk children and families through her work at The Children's Home of Lubbock. Though now retired, she is still passionate about teaching and helping those in need. She continues to be an active part of the Monterey Church of Christ and volunteers at several charitable organizations throughout the community. She and her husband, Rodney, now deceased, moved to Lubbock in 1976. Here they raised their two children. Debra is the proud Grammy of five grown grandchildren.

Ashley Davis is an attorney with the Lubbock County District Attorney’s office. She is passionate about missions and helping others both locally and abroad. Ashley is a member of Monterey Church of Christ. There she serves on the Missions Committee and is involved with several ministries including those who serve adults with special needs, active retirees and the women’s ministry. Much of her free time is spent traveling or planning to travel. Ashley joined the Monterey Foundation Board in 2022.

Laura joined the Monterey Foundation board in July 2024. She and her husband Eric attend church at Monterey Church of Christ where Eric is the Youth Minister. Laura is a Professor and Associate Dean at the TTUHSC School of Nursing. Laura has many professional accolades and titles, and has collaborated on publications including college textbooks. Laura has served on a number of nonprofit boards, including the Texas Nursing Association, the Children’s Home of Lubbock, and the LCU Department of Nursing. She is active in her church and in her community.
